Re: The Dead Sea Scrolls and Christianity

Alright so let's ignore Eisenman's stupid theory. Why not look at why Ephesians 2 and the Mishnah use the same terminology. Let's try something ... less predictable so that we don't end up with 'predictable' answers. For he is himself our peace, who hath made the two one, and hath demolished the fe...

Well if the world was undergoing a pandemic at that time what more connection do you need? If the thesis was "prohibition and the stock market crash of 1929" what sort of proof do you need? There's obviously a connection.

Re: Garrow's $1000 Challenge

(Yes, I know, the $ goes to a charity of his choice, as if no-one else would think of giving to a charity if it weren't for their desire to know what he thinks. Something very "off" about his MO.) Don't know if Neil will catch the reference, but all proceeds from Ehrman's blog goes to the Human Fund.

Re: The Dura-Europos gospel.

Vinzent on Ignatius

Looks to be an interesting book.

He also seems to believe the short recension is the precursor to the middle and long, and even then it's not the original.

Re: The Dura-Europos gospel.

I vaguely remember something from Hurtado's the Earliest Christian Artifacts that the staurogram was used in the word for crucifixion from fairly early on, I'm not seeing it here.
