Re: 1 Corinthians 15:12 : the best argument against a mythical Christ in Paul

In context, the verse makes best sense if Paul and those he is attempting to rebuke agree that Jesus had recently been here on Earth and had died. I personally doubt Paul's opponents did not believe in Jesus' resurrection, I think the disagreement is over the nature of the resurrection. Paul's oppon...

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

^It's not a problem for the author (whom we agree is not Paul) but he is an apologist, and as such is likely trying to imaginatively rationalize his belief against criticism - in this instance perhaps against criticm that priests should have been Levites. The author understands Jesus to have been fr...

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

Giuseppe said: "We can ignore the tribe of Judah question. It is the cult of Jesus coming from there" I'm not going to let you off that easily. The passage seems clear enough. The author is talking about a Jesus he thought had actually descended from the Earthly tribe of Judah: "Now if perfection h...

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

Giuseppe said: So for you a Dyonisus coming from the tribe of Thrace would be a historical person You’re attempting the old mythicist switch here – changing the goal posts from ‘Did the author think Jesus had been crucified on Earth or in heaven?’ with ‘Was there a historical person?’. Try to focus ...

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

Ah, so disagreement with Giuseppe = "intellectual dishonesty", and silence = some sort of concession of the point. I know this game  . Paul regularly quotes 'scripture' out of context. The quotation you think is interpolation is simply Paul clarifying what scriptural curse he bel...

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

I don't see any conflict between 1 Cor 1:22-24 and Gal 3:13. And Paul probably didn't write Hebrews. But even if he did I see your interpretation of it as a misinterpretation. But apparently that makes me "intellectually dishonest". How old are you? 15?

Re: About the only historicist interpolation in Paul

Paul never says the crucifixion happened in the cosmic realm, and there's no evidence for interpolation here.
