Re: 3-Year Ministry Timeline of Jesus
Early Christian historian, Eusebius, said that Jesus’ ministry lasted three years. I agree, and so do a lot of commentaries and people who attempt to harmonize the gospels. However, problems start when we try to make St. Johns account fit with the synoptic gospels; big problems. :( Ive finally mana...

Re: Translations of Josephus
Perhaps too late to be useful as a response, but I've personally found Whiston's translation to be preferable to the LOEB editions. It's a bit more literal, which makes it a bit more clunky, but it captures some important details which, if I recall correctly, are sometimes glossed over in the LOEB e...

Re: 2500 yr old tablets from Iraq show Hebrew names etc
Two books about the collection were recently published – “Documents of Judean Exiles and West Semites in Babylonia in the Collection of David Sofer” by Prof. Laurie Pearce (CDL Press), who also translated the tablets into English, and “By the Rivers of Babylon,” by Horowitz, Yehoshua Greenberg and ...

Re: Another Daniel Issue-- please help!
It's not so much "incorrect" as "missing the point". We are dealing with two separate power elites, one the Medes and the other the Persians. At the same time the relevant power elite leads the same flotilla of peoples. It's not a matter of either "sole-Median" or &quo...

Re: Another Daniel Issue-- please help!
Hi spin. First off, thanks for taking the time to read what I’ve written and for responding to it. I’ve made a number of notes/changes in response which I’ll write up at some point. I’m not 100% sure where to go from here. I feel like I’ve already addressed a lot of the points you raise. You say, fo...

Re: Ezra
It is very confused. DCH I know what you mean! I tried to compile a chronology of Ezra-Nehemiah a while back and struggled. (In case it's helpful, I remember reading this paper-- http://lmf12.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/ezraneharticle.pdf --on the matter, which certainly got me thinking.)...

I sure hope you can help me. One thing that I seemed to find solace in was that Daniel appeared to be written about the Maccabeean times, and that it really did not apply to our day, or even to Jesus... Hi Kris! I'm completely new to these boards but was interested in your post as I've been spendin...
