Re: Exodus Happened, Says Nutty Scholar

Seems your "nutty" has more scholarly support than you would like to think?

Re: What is the evidence about crucifixion happened the 3 april ?

The years 46-48 were also marked by a severe famine. This is mentioned in Acts 11:28 some eighteen years later.

Re: What is the evidence about crucifixion happened the 3 april ?

Here is a chart showing the lunar phases on Passover days from AD 26 to AD 36. Read rows from left to right. All the possibilities are shown but, as you can see, only a few fit the traditional Friday crucifixion.

Re: What is the evidence about crucifixion happened the 3 april ?

Is it possible to make a case for the crucifixion being happened the 3 april ? Pilate was governor of Judea from AD 26 to AD 36. Within those parameters, the lunar phases only permit two possible dates for a Passover meal/crucifixion as described in the gospels. Those dates are 7th April AD 30 , or...

Re: Solar eclipse under Pilate

It gets called an ‘eclipse’ although there is no such thing as solar eclipse at full moon, which was the case when Jesus died. So, it would be better described as an extraordinary astronomical event on par with the nativity 'star' or Joshua’s long day. The best known record outside of the gospels wa...

Re: Why Pilate? Because Daniel 9:24-26

Its better than coincidence isn't it? Here is my timeline of the 70 weeks. Note my '7th-year' of Artaxerxes as 457 BC. There is a reason for that, but I won't quibble.

Re: 430 or 215 years in Egypt?

While the Levite genealogy only has 4 generations from Levi to Moses (Levi - Kohath - Amram - Moses), some other tribal genealogies have more generations than that such as the one from Ephraim to Joshua ("10 generations reach from Joshua back to Ephraim: Joseph, Ephraim, Beriah, Repham, Reshep...

Re: The seventy weeks of Daniel 9.24-27.

Cyrus in 538 BC or Artaxerxes 1 in 458/457 BC are the most commonly quoted start dates. I have a paper with my preferred date here:

Happy hunting!
Sorry for coming in late DCH. I’ve got a translation by Joseph Lumpkin (2010) which seems pretty good. Not that I’m a canonical fan.

Ancient Calendar Video

Hi, its been a while since I broached my topic concerning ancient calendar astronomy mentioned in the Bible. Latest is a short video that I’m posting for anyone interested in the subject. It’s about a ’50-year’ festival, akin to our century celebrations, except that it was tied into the old Hebrew r...
