The clues are very many and can make a valid case to prove my point: in Mcn Jesus disappeared entirely from the cross. □
Where is the evidence for Jesus disappearing from the cross?

Re: Is it Fair to Say that Joseph of Arimathea Was Introduced to Prove the Empty Tomb Was Miraculous?

There used to be those who believe, even today, that Josephus was a closet Christian. I think this goes back to William Whiston in the early decades of the 18th century. Do you suspect this? I've actually once ran across a business manager at one company I visited who confidently asserted that Jose...

Re: Is it Fair to Say that Joseph of Arimathea Was Introduced to Prove the Empty Tomb Was Miraculous?

I think Joseph of Arimathea = Josephus Bar Mathea = Flavius Josephus, and the entire story is a fictionalized drama spun off of the real event wherein Josephus asked for three crucified friends to be cut down, and one lived while the other two died. Someone (John2 perhaps?) posted this connection he...

"You come from a father who is the Slanderer; and you wish to do your father's wishes. That one was a killer of men from the beginning, and did not stand upon the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from what is proper to him, because he is a liar and the liar's fath...

Re: Strange Lukan Textual Variant in Carmen adversus Marcionitas

Does this have Gnostic implications, whereby the temple (or the tent that preceded it) foreshadows the underworld? If so, would it be a stretch to presume that the 'redemptive' system established by Moses is a mirror of evil, and not of the good?

Where is the evidence that Gnosticism preceded more Orthodox forms of Christianity, and that Orthodoxy devolved out of Gnosticism?

Re: Was "who was called the Baptist" an interpolation in Josephus?

There were several "daily bather" groups back then. Did baptism evolve from this practice? Was John the Baptist (if a real human) a daily bather, or does he represent an insightful evolution which sprang from among those who followed this practice?

Re: No “Son of Man” in Marcion

Would a bunch of subsistence level agrarian farmers and city dwelling peasants fathom anything at the level of a gnostic? If such myths have their root in poverty and despair it seems that the core of the myth would be likely to have a far more simple base. Only the wealthy would have the time, educ...
