OK, though elsewhere you have said you prefer to avoid hypotheticals.
That there is a yet-unknown such reference is a hypothetical.
To be fair.

Re: Comments on Handwriting Analysis and the Mar Saba Letter

It remains fact that putative "Secret Mark" surprised. And that the best paleographer should not be dismissed. Aside, if I am allowed the following, for which I could provide details. Many have heard the phrase, three kinds of lies, "lies, damned lies, and statistics." That follo...

Re: Litwa on Marcion as ancient Mythicist

Without, for the moment, going into the, sometimes, rabbit-hole of Marcion debate,
I merely request that self-described engineer and content provider JarekS
stop asserting what others may or may not know.

Re: Greek Monks Who Thought the Letter to Theodore was in the Mar Saba Monastery Before Morton Smith Arrives

You again miss the point. You brought up Isidore of Pelusium. I said manuscripts, not books--did you read it? So, are you now suggesting that Smith went to Mar Saba to find an unknown BOOK edition of Isidore of Pelusium? Again, Smith was not a bibliographer for such supposed silly task. Or is this j...

Re: Greek Monks Who Thought the Letter to Theodore was in the Mar Saba Monastery Before Morton Smith Arrives

Yes, Smith had been advised to look for texts of Isidore of Pelusium, in MANUSCRIPTS. Smith later claimed to go to Mar Saba to catalog BOOKS. Notice the difference? Even though he knew the most rare and interesting books had already been moved to Jerusalem for safe-keeping. Why the change? Smith was...

A Paleo-Arabic Inscription of a Companion of Muhammad? Ahmad Al-Jallad and Hythem Sidky Introduction Despite the explosion in the discovery and documentation of early Islamic inscriptions by amateurs and scholars in recent years, very few of the identities of the inscriptions’ authors are securely r...

Re: Greek Monks Who Thought the Letter to Theodore was in the Mar Saba Monastery Before Morton Smith Arrives

fwiw, Smith does not say he was looking for this particular "Letter" and claimed he was surprised to find it.
He claimed to go to catalog books, not manuscripts.

Re: Comments on Handwriting Analysis and the Mar Saba Letter

I am not persuaded that nobody has been surprised by this book. Rather, the fact that the current library completely restricts, bans, access to it speaks volumes in the other direction. I have tried to point out that history of writing is more in a paleographer's domain than in that of a modern era ...

Re: Litwa on Marcion as ancient Mythicist

Dating Jesus to the time of Jannaeus is a mistake,
as I have discussed elsewhere.
