Re: Secret Mark
Morton Smith had been promoting his theory that early Christians had secret occult sexually-related rituals Direct me to a publication pre 1958 please .... You realize that in Clement of Alexandria and a Secret Gospel of Mark this appears as a tentative statement in a footnote. And what does "sexua...

There has never been a Lukan community. Even Irenaeus makes Marcion's attachment a shotgun wedding

Re: There is No Actual REAL Evidence Marcion Ever Falsified Luke
Flavor of the month I guess. The relationship with Justin, the reference to the second author of Against Marcion as an apostate, the fourfold gospel, the fact that Eusebius is the first person to identify a continuous "gospel harmony" with Tatian, the fact that Rhodon addresses Callistos (Callistiwn...

Re: There is No Actual REAL Evidence Marcion Ever Falsified Luke

Re: The tetrarchies in Luke 3.1-2.
Could be part of an understanding that the "word of God" i.e. the gospel was meant to in four parts.

Re: There is No Actual REAL Evidence Marcion Ever Falsified Luke
Why does the author accuse Marcion of falsifying a gospel, having Luke as his gospel but inevitably identifies the falsification almost exclusively in terms of Matthean content (often a Luke vs Matthew comparison where Lukan readings are proof of forgery) and especially the very Marcionite sounding ...

Re: There is No Actual REAL Evidence Marcion Ever Falsified Luke
All references to Luke in Book Four - 19 in total across 40+ chapters. Notice they are confined to one section of the treatise, four chapters in total i.e. 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5. Doesn't that strike you as odd? By contrast Origen's Commentaries mention the names 'John' and 'Matthew' throughout. In s...

Re: Justin Martyr, the Gospel of Luke, and Marcion.
Not everyone was allowed to say what they knew openly. Look at the oath of Justinus in the Philosophumena and that "modern fake" 'to Theodore.' But swear, says Justin, if you wish to know "what eye hath not seen, and ear hath not heard, and the things which have not entered into the heart;" that is,...

Comical. Like Judaism is separate from "gnosticism." You really have outdated nonsensical notions. Why aren't you as dead as your ideas?Gnosticism, which existed as a school even before Christianity appeared on the scene;
