Matthew 23:7 as evidence of the euhemerization of the evil archontes

Matthew 23:7: they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called 'Rabbi' by others. Replace 'rabbi' with 'Kyrioi' and you have: they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called 'Kyrioi' by others. It is clear that the opposition is mythical in characte...

Three macroscopical errors by Alfred Loisy

In his Histoire et mythe à propos de Jésus-Christ , Alfred Loisy wanted to attack frontally Paul-Louis Couchoud because, in his own words: ...j'ai le droit, même le devoir, de dire mon mot sur un problème qui n'intéresse pas que le passé du christianisme mais l'avenir de la religion dans le monde. (...

Re: Last nail on the Testimonium Flavianum. Again.

What is more wrong in Allen and Bermejo-Rubio is the idea that the polemical target of the evangelists (or "their sources") were perennial enemies who knew embarrassing truths about the historical Jesus. The consensus is victim of a similar error, insofar it insists that the enemies of the...

Re: What is the evidence that the Simonians used Mark and not *Ev?

And Cerdo too, I suspect, put together proto-Luke (from proto-Mark, gMatthew, and who-knows-what else.) Isn't it more logical, given your premises about how the pauline epistles evolved, that the first gospel was the same gospel in use among the first Christians who " padded out Paul’s bare-bo...

Re: What is the evidence that the Simonians used Mark and not *Ev?

One may use the priority of *Ev over the Canonical Gospels to conclude that the Apostolikon is more faithful to the original version of the Pauline epistles than the canonical corpus. Or one may conclude, if he/she is already persuaded independently that the Apostolikon precedes the canonical corpus...

Re: What is the evidence that the Simonians used Mark and not *Ev?

Look at Thomas is a naive euphemism to say: look at visions, revelations, dreams, hallucinations, etc. I am interested to the gospels. I think that the logical implication by Roger Parvus's view has to be the following chronology: short notes by Paul ---> wide Satornilian and Cerdonite interpolation...

Last nail on the Testimonium Flavianum. Again.

https://www.richardcarrier.info/archives/27782 His approach resembles a creative reinterpretation of the Zapruder film in which rampaging apes must have been in frame and secretly removed because Kubrick liked them and Kubrick and Zapruder are both from the 1960s and the CIA can do things like that....

Re: What is the evidence that the Simonians used Mark and not *Ev?

My vote for authorship of proto-Mark would go to Basilides. But for the interpolation of Paul’s letters (with Saturnilian materials) and the authorship of proto-Luke I would vote for Cerdo. Accordingly are you breaking the continuity between the interpolators of Paul's letters (with Saturnilian mat...

Re: Further evidence that Ignatius faced old deniers of the historicity of Jesus

Alvar Ellegard agrees with Reinach contra Kirby and Carrier about the interpretation of Ignatius: There are also general considerations in favour of placing the Gospels well into the second century CE. If the picture of Jesus that they give had been generally current, it is hard to understand why Ig...

Re: Ellegard's Argument from Notoriety to fix Jesus under Pilate

As a dedicated Paulinist, Mark would have known, at least approximately, when Paul wrote his letters. Very a strange Paulinist, one who believes that Jesus was born "by woman" (I assume that the bit in Gal 4:4 is an anti-Marcionite interpolation). Apart that, I would agree with you on all...
