The Formation of Revelation 13

Revelation chapter 13 was a product of Daniel 7 and parallel formation of other sections within Revelation. As always, there is more to the story, but this is the gist of it. Examples taken from my book How John Wrote the Book of Revelation from Concept to Publication. The adding of the beast into R...

Re: A synopsis of 2 Peter & Jude.

Thanks Ben, For what I understand, being that my Greek sucks, is that Jude is far more polish than 2 Peter so that it is likely that Jude was written first and 2 Peter leverage the writing and expanded upon it. For those who may not know, this is also not the only place in that this technique is don...

Re: Why crucifixion?

But in Revelation the Woman gave birth to the child in the lower heavens , not on earth. Then, after that the child was snatched up to upper heavens, the Woman goes to wilderness, to mean the earth (this earth) before the creation. After the celestial battle between the now adult Christ (with the a...

Re: Was Herod replaced by Pilate in virtue of the same reason why Jesus was replaced by John as giver of grace?

My main point is that I am convinced it is perilous to explain only one datum among these texts without also either (A) making sure to explain other data which seems related or (B) making sure that those other data belong to texts which are too late to matter. I do not think there is any certainty ...

Re: Was Herod replaced by Pilate in virtue of the same reason why Jesus was replaced by John as giver of grace?

Both Ignatius and the gospel of Peter put Herod in the works, as well. Does your hypothesis require that both of them postdate the finished gospel of Luke, and that both of them copied that detail from him? And there are these passages, too: I hope this is not a snarky answer, but it really depends...

Re: Was Herod replaced by Pilate in virtue of the same reason why Jesus was replaced by John as giver of grace?

The author of Luke-Acts wrote the two books together. Now the consensus of academic scholars, at least here in Italy, recognizes that Marcion wrote proto-Luke and our "Luke" edited it, adding Acts. Only, compare the Birth Story and the surprising anomaly that in Luke Jesus is already known to have ...

Re: Was Herod replaced by Pilate in virtue of the same reason why Jesus was replaced by John as giver of grace?

The author of Luke-Acts wrote the two books together. We see can be seen by simply opening the two books and following the stories (e.g. http://www.bible.literarystructure.info/bible/99_LukeActs_e.html ). The major difference in the parallel formation is that in Luke, Jesus goes to Jerusalem and in ...

Re: Exodus 4:24

I am more of the follow the poetry (parallels) guy as a means of determining the intent of the writing. After all, if you know how they wrote the text then you can derive more meanings behind it. After all, if you know how the story was written then you know what the author intended it to be read. B...
