Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Note that line 4 in the second image is wrapped. It's basically the same image as before (well, the first image already explained everything). Note also that it doesn't matter whether the preserved block is from the left edge, the center or the right edge. The space between the end of one line and ...

Re: Hurricane Florence and Pat Robertson

The atheist/liberals will claim that the storm was diminished due to President Obama's anti-climate change initiatives. There is no need to make a 'leap of faith' when you know the scientific evidence is on the side of the theist. It is the atheist that is making a huge reckless leap of faith ...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Thanks Ben. I'm quite willing to throw in the towel on p45 but you still haven't dis-proven my point by using the overlay method. If I had your computer skills this is what I would do to prove me wrong: I would line of up the red underlined letters in your text box in a straight up and down vertical...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

You are aware that you cannot move any of the red letters? Those are the ones we know where they are. You also have to account for all the rest of the text, not just the "missing" one, but the one that is there anyway and already perfectly fills up the existing space, like in most Greek manuscripts...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Ulan, Your argument for spatial relations is a strong one and I thought that way as well upon my first eyeball glance. However, upon looking at the full image and zooming in and out and comparing it to the other leaves, I was no longer convinced. This is where I wish I had the computer skills of Ben...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Ben already showed you in his last post. You would need an additional two whole lines of space for 8:37 to fit. Those two lines are obviously not there. Actually, Ben was pulling your leg with his long-hand rendition. ;) ****************** So, how do you know that Acts 8:37 would take up an additio...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Thanks for the help. However, I do not see the slot where Acts 8:37 can't possibly fit in, if it was ever there in the first place. p45 is so damaged and missing so much from the left and right margins that it could have been there but was lost due to deterioration and wear. Simply a case of guessi...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

Try looking for spirit in verse 39 it is a nomina sacra PNA with a line on top. I have underlined only a few key words for reference: P45 (Acts 8.36-39).png Thanks for the help. However, I do not see the slot where Acts 8:37 can't possibly fit in, if it was ever there in the first place. p45 is so ...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

The Emperor Constantine thought Jesus was god. I'm not so sure of that. If I recall correctly, during the Council of Nicaea (325) the debate over Homoiousian vs. Homoousian was quite contentious. Homoiousian : Jesus and God the Father were similar but not the same substance. Homoousian : Jesus was ...

Re: Who axed Acts 8:37?

The doctrine of Jesus being God as stated in Acts 8:37 is not only confirmed by the Ante-Nicene Fathers but also confirmed in archeological evidence at the ancient (230 C.E.) Jewish village of Kefar Othnay. The mosaic reads: “ The god-loving Akeptous has offered the table to God Jesus Christ as a me...
