Re: Possible New Information About the Marcionites in Tertullian De Pudicitia

SA, that makes it sound like the only two choices he had were Marcionites or Montanists at the time if you were a non-Gnostic kind of guy that didn't want to convert to Judaism Not sure if that's accurate but didn't the orthodox church exist as well? Strange. It's hard to understand the real differe...

Re: What happens to the unbaptized gentiles in Paul?

Ken, appreciate the level of detail in your reply! i think forum posting has to involve some level of disagreement to make it interesting but still, i'm really not trying to oppose your specific views and don't really think i've tried to, certainly not consciously anyway Yes, though I would hesitate...

Re: What happens to the unbaptized gentiles in Paul?

Ken, i'm not really trying to place your ideas in a box just trying to spur some debate What i'm objecting to is a logical inconsistency i see You have Paul complaining about 'super apostles' and it's obvious there are heavy duty preachers other than him about, claiming authority. All this Paul says...

Re: Peter in the Clementine Homilies Does Not Accept the Sacredness of the Pentateuch

the Clementines is similar to Samaritan Judaism which has no problems with questioning scripture (referring back to the original post), nor with questioning sacrifice and would explain the funky theology Any debate of the Clementines that ignores Samaritan concepts is strange to me, even childish He...

Re: Peter in the Clementine Homilies Does Not Accept the Sacredness of the Pentateuch

it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day to be an Ebionite you had to get circumcised, the church fathers can say whatever they want and still win because no-one wants to get their dick cut. In some earlier time they had an influence but it disappeared pretty fast but left it's mark, t...

Re: What happens to the unbaptized gentiles in Paul?

The Corinthians are trying to follow the Paul's teachings, but in his absence differences of interpretation have arisen I don't think that can be substantiated There's other teachers apart from Paul wanting to be leaders, and maybe they were before him Why is it that everything is so Paul centric a...

Re: Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

i think there's a barrier existing between perception of the truth and lower conceptions of God, it takes balls to overcome it. they lack the balls is why which is what you said above, you answered it already but i just prefer the term 'balls'

Re: Peter in the Clementine Homilies Does Not Accept the Sacredness of the Pentateuch

interesting point one option is this is a Samaritan version of events? there's such a similarity to Samaritan views of scripture in the Clementines, at least.. that's what i thought but correct me if i'm wrong but this goes further than the known Samaritan differences to the Pentateuch however nothi...

Re: Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

lusts of the flesh? what is that exactly, like desiring to invade other countries or impose your will on them, or trade deals that go sour at the expense of the victim? plenty of that is around from one end of the earth to the other, is that a lust of the flesh? or is it a catch-all for depravity, s...
