Re: Galatians 1 & Mark 1

what Paul does is 2 things
First he upholds a narrative of a pre-existing set of pillars
Second he disagrees with them
Many focus on the disagreement without questioning the notion of the pillars, who are these pillars and are they real or artificial?

Re: Of Nazirites & Naṣoraeans.

within Judaism is there any precedent for a group that is opposed by the mainstream to be associated with a location of ill-repute based on a play on words?

Ben don't you ever think that at some point your own personal experiences have to guide you? i don't think its possible to take that objective viewpoint that is above and higher than the subjects this it discusses and do so dispassionately at some point you have to get involved and integrate your ow...

Re: "Matthew" Makes A Whole Ass Out Himself. Matthean Doubling, Editing Or Copying of GMark?

shouldn't Matthew be treated as a work that is based on another work? A derivative
so attempts to trace back the origins of Christianity from a work based on another work seems non-sensical to me

Re: The Jewish food blessing and the Didache eucharist.

Great info One thing that stands out is the complete omission of Pauline theology regarding the cross (i don't believe it even mentions the crucifixion?!) I think this omission is emphasized even more because this is supposed to be a church manual covering all the bases Also where are all the old te...

Re: Against the Argument for 'Influences' in Early Christianity

Re: Against the Argument for 'Influences' in Early Christianity

But as I asked David - is the rejection of the temple something new or something arch-conservative? The Pentateuch does not proscribe a permanent building. Then we learn the Dositheans objected to just this on conservative principles AND a connection is made between the Dositheans and the early Chr...
