Re: Who is John Mark?

why not take it further? The Gospel of Mark was the gospel produced by the 'John Mark' / 'Barnabas' church mission that was distinct from Paul's. The stuff in Acts and name dropping in Paul's letters are attempts to make them either seem closer, on the same page or recognise differences did exist bu...

Re: Was "Mark", just as Apollos, learned in paulinism?

Giuseppe, that Phillipians hymn ! never knew that before If you read 1 John, it is entirely about accepting the name Jesus for Christ and not other names eg "Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ" "And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ" and...

Re: Did Justin Martyr use Pauline epistles?

Simon aligns well with what is known about ben Stada. But kinking them together has disastrous consequences for how we understand Christianity as ben Stada was active around 80-120 ad. Of course I'm in favour with this time frame, but you can imagine that many people would have a problem with it! I...

Re: 1 Clement

Yep, well this is probably the Clement supposed to have taken over as leader in, what was it, about 78AD?
who is Grapte? The female leader of the church
The Shepherd reveals the concept of a 'female leader' did once exist, which very rapidly was 'forgotten'

Re: Did Justin Martyr use Pauline epistles?

That's a more measured approach from Roger there
The idea Simon = Paul is only superficially appealing but i think it falls apart
Way too many differences!

Re: Dating Paul and his Letters

i'm kind of sold on the 29AD date for one of the pivotal events, the passing of John which ties in with a 90% solar eclipse that year, the only total one anywhere near the region for decades either way. I kind of see the deaths of at least 3 individuals in the gospel accounts getting merged, The Sam...

Re: Dating Paul and his Letters

Pauls "14 year holiday" where he did nothing stands out, some might call in a "bs" smell test on that! let's see what would that achieve? it would date the crucifixion back 14 years from his letters, without it not 33ad but 48ad, which is a timeframe where certain folk were known to have been tried ...

Re: Transfiguration == original crucifixion in the Earliest Gospel

Guiseppe how do you explain this.. Jesus taught eternal life, right? So how can he die? It's obvious he didn't 'die' because while his body is on the cross he's off doing other stuff, like rendering sheol or appearing to people (gnostic version) So one thing that baffles me is why scripture say he d...
