Re: What would a Christian NT canon look like if it were created today?
In 2013, Hal Taussig published A New New Testament . A description of his method for choosing new books for an expanded canon (and a list of which books made the cut) is here: https://uncertaintist.wordpress.com/2013/03/04/a-do-it-yourself-new-testament/ and with the passage of time the book itself ...

Re: Is the idea that Mark is not a Paulinist a mere apologetics?
Thank you for the link. Apparently that post is one among a few on the topic of how Pauline gMark might be. I'll read the others anon. As to the disciples' potrayal in gMark, I'm in general agreement with the blogger. They do about as well as anybody could be expected to do under the circumstances. ...

Re: Mark as allegory ??
Allegory: a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. Under which definition, all stories, poems and pictures are allegories, and typical allegories at that. There are no constraints on the admissible human interpretations of any...

Re: Petrine counterattacks against Mark in Acts of the Apostles
Hello Paul, I would say that John who was called Mark in Acts can be identified as the author of GMark with almost as much certainty as Saul who was also called Paul in Acts as the author of the Pauline letters. What do YOU think? Do you think this could be a historical event that actually happened...

Re: Petrine counterattacks against Mark in Acts of the Apostles
However, as I reflect on the second part of the fragment, I now have a different impression. When Papias says that Mark did not lie and did not falsify anything, Papias seems to be going beyond mere assessment. It rather gives the impression that Papias feels the need to defend Mark against such cr...

Re: Marcion's priority over both Matthew and Luke in two words
In *Ev, not only John is "scandalized" at Jesus news (according now to both Bilby and Trobisch, pace Olson), but Jesus says that John is the greatest among the people "born by woman", hence implying Jesus is not in the same category of the people "born by woman"(really...

Re: Petrine counterattacks against Mark in Acts of the Apostles
Greetings, Kunigunde Could you review why "John who was called Mark" in Acts can be confidently identified with the author of the gospel which at some time came to be called according to Mark ? Is it material to your argument that John-or-Mark's mother's house is actually his house, too? I...

10) "Mark" says without a previous or current context (the context is given 5 chapters later) that John the Baptist was "delivered up". Josephus gives the context for John the Baptist being delivered up.: Correspondent: Joe Wallack Smoking gun excerpt: ... So how would a Master ...
