Re: Ancient Hebrew Calendar
Slight misunderstanding here Ethan. You're referencing the count of 50 days that occurred every year from Passover to Pentecost. I'm discussing the Sabbatical years mentioned in chapter 25.

Re: Dead Sea Scrolls Reveal Hidden Calendar
The only confusion I have right now is whether God considers Aviv the first month, or tishrei the first month. This is so important because where does the Enoch calendar actually begin? Hi Halochem. Abib (Aviv) was the 1st month throughout the Old Testament except for a rare Jubilee year that start...

Re: Ancient Hebrew Calendar
One more thing I would like to add to this topic, that might be of interest to some here. Concerning the 1st day of Tishri, yes, it was the New Year start of an exceptional 50th year in the original Hebrew calendar. (Leviticus 25:8-10) But it also seems to have been a reference point for yet another...

Re: Why Jesus descended ''in the 15° year of Tiberius'' ?
Tertulians 12th year is the same as Marcions 15th year when we realise that Marcion (and Luke) were counting from the coregency date. AD 26 is a better fit with other historical data too.

Re: The Atonement Clock
Yes, I am aware. Apart from minor differences the Jews and Samaritans followed the same cycle. I found Jewish writings contained the most chronological information. However, one snippet of Samaritan history showed its sabbath on the same year as their Jewish counterparts. In 332 BC they requested Al...

The Atonement Clock
In 1859 a Jewish scholar, Benedict Zuckermann published a table of sabbatical years in ancient times. He based his conclusions on a variety of sources such as the book of Maccabees and Josephus. In one example he cites an exemption Alexander the Great granted Jews concerning payment of tax every sev...

Re: New Testament Apocrypha Question
Most is of no value for me because it is to late to carry historicity, the Pauline text and gospel text carry the most value for the origins of Christianity, and it is very very weak as it is, let alone later writing by people even further removed from any events. The value of these later text is i...

New Testament Apocrypha Question
Early writings This link is good, but I'm hoping I don't have to read them all. :whistling: Can anyone tell me if the New Testament Apocrypha has any date information? Clues to what year certain events took place - things like Pilates actions, Jesus' crucifixion, Pentecost, conversion of Cornelius ...

Re: Mummy Mask Manuscript Might Mean More Metaphorical Mark?
The date is worthless unless there are clear external factors (a shopping list in the mask from 80 AD, an edict that eliminated new mummy masks at 90 AD). We know that terminus ad quem dates for manuscripts are notoriously unreliable. Think the papers of Brent Nongbri, think Codex Sinaiticus. Basic...
