Re: Between the Sheets -- Mark’s Ménage a Trois with Miriam and Paul

The connection Mark 1/Numbers 12 is really interesting. Having studied the parallels, i think 2 Kings 5:1-17 is a better source for the narrative in Mark 1. There are more striking parallels and intertextuality in 2 Kings 5 than in Numbers 12. I think Numbers 12 provided the primary framework for M...

Between the Sheets -- Mark’s Ménage a Trois with Miriam and Paul

[hr][hr] Mark’s leper --- through the shared Miriam --- is Paul. I first made this claim a few years ago, and my conviction has only grown stronger. This is an expanded and revised analysis. Mark Used Numbers 12 to Construct His Story of the Leper There are six direct points of contact between these...

Am I missing something here? Do you have multiple personalities? A mouse in your pocket? The "royal" we? Does the moniker "ebion" represent the work of a committee of ebionites?

Ah yes, I see now. Your reference to the "super apostles" was out of place.

Re: Do the 7 letters in Rev. line up with the Apostolicon?

The way Paul tells (admittedly his side of the story) is that sure, the "super apostles" told a false gospel to his churches, but when Paul came back he corrected *them* and they pretty much had to stand there and take it--because they knew they were wrong. Perhaps you can show me in Paul...

Re: Do the 7 letters in Rev. line up with the Apostolicon?

Marcion, Marcion, Marcion (where’s a puKe emoji when needed?) ... Certainly the Marcionites were important, but they were not the only reasonably early group that were known to utilize their own selective readings of Paul’s letters. Why are the Valentinians so often ignored? They didn't have the sa...

Re: Do the 7 letters in Rev. line up with the Apostolicon?

I think whoever II Peter was talking about are the same people James is talking about, i.e. people who (putatively!) misread Paul--in other words, the Marcionites. Marcion, Marcion, Marcion (where’s a puKe emoji when needed?) Certainly the Marcionites were important, but they were not the only reas...

Re: Is Paul lying about being a Pharisee (too)?

In the OP I said: Besides being a long walk, Damascus is in a different Roman province of the time, and he would have had to walk through the Dekápolis, also not Palestina. Whatever mandate Paul might have in Jerusalem would not extend to that Syrian province. And Paul says he's working for the hig...

Religion is dead. There isn't some "backroom somewhere" where "interested parties" are plotting to checkmate the other side with their dogma.
Tell that to Speaker Mike Johnson and his NAR cronies (New Apostolic Reformation and the ‘Seven Mountains’ movement).
