Re: 1715 Clement edition

Whenever the Voss book entered Mar Saba, it is certified that the two-volume folio edition of Clement was indeed there, so that was certainly available to annotate.

Re: Distinguishing some questions about the "Letter to Theodore"

Joe, bro,
I'm sometimes skeptical of your skepticism.
Say, when you disdain when others question antiquity of "Secret Mark"--
seems pretty knee-jerk-y.

Re: 1715 Clement edition

Here is the relevant comment by A. Tselikas, from his report, published in 2009, Textological observations section: "12. Interesting is the case of the existence of old printed books in the Library of St. Sabba. According the catalogue of 263 old printed books that patriarch Nicodemus sent to t...

Re: Jesus' home in Capernaum?

Whether Nazareth had a synagogue then depends on interpretation. It surely was then an occupied Jewish settlement. Increasingly, late second temple (pre-70) Galilean synagogues are being found--even two at Magdala, for example. Some meeting-places (remains) are more distinct than others. When possib...

Re: Jesus' home in Capernaum?

There are questions about the relationship between Nazareth (and Capernaum) and Nazarenes for which there is not yet a consensus. Perhaps the most-discussed aspect is about how these two are related in Matthew 2:23. Thanks for restating your points 2 and 3, thought I found neither persuasive. One ne...

Re: are these supposed to be sound arguments?

Actually, I am much more interested in who was the Qumran Teacher of Righteousness (Judah), and whether Papias' Aristion is identical with Aristo of Pella, etc.
But a fraud, such as Dirk Obbink misdating then illegally selling stolen mss, must needs be addressed, too.

Re: are these supposed to be sound arguments?

The falseness of the "Letter to Theodore," unless I'm mistaken, which is surely possible, is becoming increasingly recognized.
Neither you, Peter, nor I own it all.

He got permission for a project of cataloging books. That was his announced reason--as is published and well known. What I said was what I was trying to say.
