I assume that passage refers to a rectification of liturgical practices where gnostic groups would only drink water in their eucharist and the proto-catholics used wine. Scientifically speaking, no. There were some studies that suggested that drinking a small amount of red wine (one glass) per day would be beneficial, but those were debunked.
