Re: Nothing Sums Up the Essential Nonsense of Religion Better Than This

The Pauline conception of "by grace are you saved through faith" doesn't seem to involve or require the ritual of baptism at all. Didn't Paul even boast that he had baptized no one sans for a couple of exceptions?

Re: Did common early Christians know much of the gospel narratives?

Perhaps @mlinssen can be encouraged to run a 'grep' search for the various of Koine/Greek words meaning (or implying) "return" within the epistles.

Re: Did common early Christians know much of the gospel narratives?

I agree that much of Vinzent's argument revolves around early extra-biblical (non-Canonical) NT era writings. But in addition to this, the Epistles found within the Canonical NT (21 of the 27 books) bear very little (to almost no) mention of (specifically) a Messianic "return" . They gener...

Re: Did common early Christians know much of the gospel narratives?

Which is more important for Christians today? 1. Knowing about the life and sayings of Jesus, or 2. Believing that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected? I'd say (2), and I'd say it was the same for early Christians as well based on the literature. Markus Vinzent argues for the exact opposite...

κ(ε)ράμιον is anagram of Μαρκίων.
They don't appear to be anagrams.

Being anti-Bill Gates, I transitioned directly from IBM's OS/2 to Linux in 2001.

I'm currently using Linux Mint, but I actually prefer the KDE desktop over Gnome/Mate/Cinnamon...

OK, it's working. The book and chapter are there and each verse containing the search criteria is listed by book and then chapter just as it should. I must have been blind a bit earlier.

Re: Lord / master / king / servant / slave / Rabbi / teacher in all of the NT - Matthew through Luke

One small glitch:

For the ESV and WEB Bibles the book names all show up in a long list right at the top of the output file, and then the verses containing the search criteria show up without the benefit of knowing which book they came from.

If you use bash, there's a feature / bug to it. If you're an old fart like me and use korn shell then you're all set with the following: grep -ie "Nazar" -ie "Capernaum" -ie "Galile" -ie "Judea" -ie "^Chapter" -ie "^BOOK" < BereanLiteral.t...
