Re: Is "blasphemy against the holy spirit" a Markan invention?

But you are saying that the graveness doesn't make sense in the specific context of Mark 3 , only in the context outside of gMark, and that's what I think is a problem. No, it is more like I am saying that the graveness is unexplained in the specific context. It is not nonsensical for one particula...

Re: Is "blasphemy against the holy spirit" a Markan invention?

I think you misunderstood me here, I fully understand this part of your view, I just disagree with it (first of all because I don't think the holy spirit can naturally just like that be considered a person to be blasphemed , contrary to God in 2 Kings). What does this mean? The spirit seems to have...

Re: Is "blasphemy against the holy spirit" a Markan invention?

But I must admit that I don't understand fully your view on how and why this teaching ended up in this context. Do you think Mark had this tradition of the incident with the scribes, the 'Beelzebul controversy', and he then thought that would be a fitting way to endow this teaching (witnessed in Di...

Re: Is "blasphemy against the holy spirit" a Markan invention?

Hi, Stefan. I have been wanting to return to this thread, but I am finding that we may share too little common ground to make further discussion profitable, at least at this time. For one thing, you seem pretty adamant that the Didache is based on Matthew, whereas I am fairly convinced that the Did...

Re: Comparing gMark with 'other' history writings of the time?

I agree completely with your view about the genre of gMark as a continuation of what we find in 'Scriptures'. This view which you have arrived at and have found confirmation for in Baum's article is also the view held at Copenhagen University, and it has been carried forward by my teacher Mogens Mü...

Re: Comparing gMark with 'other' history writings of the time?

Oh that is just an excellent link, Ben! Top quality description of what I have tried to describe here in narrative-critical terms as 'covert narrator' and great analysis right there. As for my question: It seems like there really are no examples of history writing at the time with such an 'invicibl...

Re: gMark is intended to be history writing

Howdy, Stefan Because once this material had begun to spread, these proto-gospels, then it was out there and couldn't be retrieved. Kind of like a picture being put on the internet: if you wish for that picture to be spread in a changed version instead of the one that has been uploaded, then you'll...
