Re: Was the original Eucharist the giving of the prohibited fruit by the Serpent-Jesus?

If this scholar's view is correct, then I was right, when I said again and again in this forum that Jesus, when he is called "carpenter and son of Mary '' by the blind people of Nazareth, was considered by them the demiurge son of Sophia. Its nor correct, it is absurd. You have no way in hell ...

Re: Jesus Carpenter “read” in the Platon's Symposium?

Context of tekton as used, in this time and place, by Markan authors, was that of displaced agrarian peasants forced off their lands many due to not being able to pay their rent/lease/taxes, and ended up doing what they could by hand on a day to day basis. They are said to live a life below that of ...

Re: Dating Paul's Conversion c.36 C.E.

I do not think that Judeans resident in the Diaspora were disposed to be too strict, as inscriptions record many many cases where synagogues and Judeans of the Diaspora got along very cozily with pagan patrons, even letting them equate the Judean god with some local god. Of course the local Judeans...

13, 14. " My early education is a proof that I did not receive the gospel from man. In context, this was directly related to placing his authority and independence from the Jerusalem sect. It is not literal in context. This is what Pau8l is saying, more or less That is one version. Scholars ar...

Re: Dating Paul's Conversion c.36 C.E.

Where I really blame your failure is in that the anthropology of this time period, which shows these were all very violent people, who did terrible things in the name of religion. While I do not use Acts, its descriptions were never vilified as rhetoric, or as lies or exaggerations, its reporting o...

Re: 'Connecting Gospels: Beyond the Canonical/Non-Canonical Divide'

I think it's highly feasible that the First Jewish-Roman War is what prompted the writing (and other writings), but plenty of others have noted aspects of Josephus accounts in the NT texts to the extent that they are unlikely to have come from the same sources that Josephus used: it seems likely th...

rgprice wrote: Wed Sep 26, 2018 7:10 am Well I do address the non-canonical gospels in my book, but my conclusion is that every single one of them is dependent on the Markan narrative.
Which is unsupportable and seems to quite imaginative.
