Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

The bottom line is why can Celsus see that Mark, Matthew and Luke are obvious expansions but Irenaeus gets away pretending they are not.
Show the evidence, please.

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

But at the very least the introduction and everything until coming to the synagogue was not there, right? So right out of the starting block this 'cut Luke' might look a lot like Mark with Lukan and Marcan elements, right? Marcion had many reasons to cut the beginning of gLuke (a lot of Judaism, Je...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

to Huller, The bottom line is that anyone who has any familiarity with the basic 'problem' of the Marcionite gospel paradigm cannot accept the claim that Marcion simply had a version of Luke. Either 1. Marcion had this primitive version of Luke with no ascription or title AND knew and used Matthew, ...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

to Huller, But the people who have studied the problem for much of their lives consistently make the reference here. After I go through the rest of Mark and Luke and those who have argued for the existence of a Marcionite Diatessaron (Casey among others) I will get to the German scholars Harnack esp...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

Thus the passage, " Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?" (Matt 12, 48 ; Mark 3, 33), though not to be found in Luke, was, according to Tertullian (Adv. Marcion. 4, 19, p. 531. D.), a "most constant argument of all who dispute the Lord's nativity" that is Marcion and his f...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

For example, Tertullian claimed that Marcion debated with Roman Christian leaders about the sayings regarding old and new wineskins (Mark 2:21-22 parr.; Tertullian, Adv. Marc. 3.16.5; 4.11.9) and good and bad trees (Luke 6:43-44 parr; Tertullian Adv Marc 1.2.1). [Richard Pervo The Making of Paul p....

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

My God, I have demonstrated that either Tertullian, his source or Marcion (it depends on how you read the material but the end result is the same) consistently couples the two saying in the same way as Ephrem's Diatessaron: Blessed the womb which bore you and the breasts which suckled you. Marcion ...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

You seem to love Irenaeus's in spite of you characterizing him as a liar who would say anything to win (hard to see what you might make him appear sympathetic to you). Pick your poisons. Many of the Adamantius readings find support in Tertullian and other sources. Slandering again! I do not love Ir...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

We are trying to get all the information about the Marcionite gospel and then reject unlikely parts after the entire picture is revealed before us ... Well, you haven't. Nowhere I saw evidence that any of the non-Lukan material appearing in the dialogue or Adamantus or Tertullian AM were in fact in...

Re: Only Fantastically Amazing People Think We Have The Ur-C

The point is still the same with respect to Marcion and the (contemporary) Diatessaron. Funny how you don't mention that. Again testimony to the 'objectiveness' of your research efforts i.e. to sustain, defend and attack new propositions rather than inquire. What do you mean by that? Did you read t...
