Re: One of the two witnesses of Revelation was called Jesus/Joshua

The two witnesses found in Revelation 11 is derived from Zechariah chapters 2 to 4 http://geneticliteraryreconstruction.info/Content/images/ZechariahDraft.png Jesus/Joshua and Zerubabel. If you look at what they were doing in Zechariah, they were rebuilding the temple in Zechariah and caring for it ...

Re: Why "Son of Man" ? Because Cain was the true Son of Adam

I think we need to have a Gnostic board where this stuff can be placed.

Re: My Take on a Single Author for the Book of Revelation

The use of an author's notation (a text placed in the before and after a source text is inserted, see in gray in the illustrations below) is a quirk that indicates the author was aware of the source material added, or in the case of Daniel 7, represents how the author knew the text of Revelation its...

Re: The authorship of the apocalypse of John.

The initial imagery is derived from Ezekiel which is the primary source material for the book of Revelation. In this case, John is taking on the role of Ezekiel for the second destruction of Jerusalem. The image below represents an author's notation. It is a literary device used by John in several p...

Re: My Take on a Single Author for the Book of Revelation

Several things Here are a few things: A parallel between Revelation chapters 1 to 3, 21, 22 ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oKDSEIyx4sIHym0mZPRJSDyYzADofc7w/view?usp=sharing ). This indicates that a simple parallel was constructed which probably malformed the earlier parallel. The alpha and omega...

Re: My Take on a Single Author for the Book of Revelation

Well, the best sort of examples would be cases from antiquity in which we are already pretty sure that a single author him/herself published the two or more versions of the work known to us, and in which certain clear structures from the first edition have been mangled in the second. That may be as...

Re: My Take on a Single Author for the Book of Revelation

I have highlighted the part that I find psychologically dubious. If I had gone to the trouble of crafting a careful chiastic pattern out of my scriptural source materials, I would be quite reluctant to spoil that pattern for the sake of adding later material. I would have either (A) added the mater...

Re: Why the Gnostics wanted that the Jews abandoned YHWH

Okay, after a long discussion with my wife on Gnosticism, she loves this stuff, YHWH was the evil god that was tricked into giving humans his divine essence. So I can understand what you are getting at Giuseppe. Apologies for the comment earlier. This is modern day projection. Gnosticism was never ...

Re: My Take on a Single Author for the Book of Revelation

Ben, One of the quirks that John used in writing Revelation was what I call an Author's notation, which is a repeating phrase showing where the source material was separated. The mighty angel is one such author's notation (see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eC1GQreT7AYIxIYJR6rzTIvQEAvl_RJ1/view in...
