I have not seen this book itself but only received notice today that it is out in print and up for review at Classical Journal:

Some of you may be interested in this book, the title of which I just saw announced:

A good overview of the beginning of the movement, and of its interactions with and influence on Christians outside of monasteries (to say nothing of "pagans"), is Peter Brown's The Body and Society. In his 2008 edition he adds a long introduction in which he states how his own views evolve...

Anyway, as we've debated before, Daniel seems a mess to me. chapter 9 says that seven weeks and sixty two weeks are decreed. After the sixty two weeks, the messiah will be cut off. So according to that, shouldn't the messiah have been killed in 63 A.D. or thereabouts?

Hi Kris. I don't know about all this, but I do know that the Midrash B'reshit Rabba is not part of the Talmud. The Midrashim are generally considered a bit older.
