Re: did you know???

Can't you read? Stakes have nothing stretched out. Is this too difficult for you? Haven't you read how they did it? That's how they did it. Should I care what devout Christians are phantacising? Why do you? Stick to facts. So to sum it up, stauros means cross and not stake because stakes have nothi...

Re: did you know???

Geocalyx: there was nothing stretched out on a stauros. The text of the Bruce Codex is obviously a forgery in the name of THEOLOGY, by a very devout Christian.
Forgery of what?

Re: did you know???

That in the whole NT including Paul the word is "stauros" meaning stake, and not cross. That the word cross (and crucify and crucifixion) comes from after 400. When the bible was translated from greek into latin, stauros became crux. Crux means by the way also stake. So the translator did...

Re: The Biblical God is not infinite

Nice! I did a literal translation of Apocryphon of John into my native tongue (turned it into a free verse sort of deal after noticing it has a certain rythm to it and rhymes in places) and have been working on a Thomas one. Thomas really is a complex piece of work! I'm not sure how Logion 74: said ...

Re: The logic of the Nag Hammadi collection.

Of course they are. They are denying the world imposed on them by an external figure. And they have every right to "deny this world". Remember Egypt was defeated by Rome and in 325 the Emperor basically forbade even thinking differently. Public assemblies were eliminated and became churche...

Re: The inscrutability of Christianity

Scholars are working very hard to make sense of this because fear only lets them go so far. So Jesus is Truth but see, it doesn't make sense because it got corrupted and interpolated and all we need is some archaeology and literary criticism to salvage this and save our collective face. It's fear of...

Re: "the author of Mark invented the disciple Thomas because he was well acquainted with the Gospel of that name"

Going to take the opportunity to ask here, but in NHC, Thomas is labeled "contender," athletes. The year in which this is relevant enough to preserve by writing it down is 325+, so what exactly is the contest? "Remember me also , my brethren, in your prayers: Peace to the saints and t...

Re: The logic of the Nag Hammadi collection.

But that's just it, while the gnostics described from history do indeed sound divided, the NHC texts, after looking past their superficial differences (example: never is the "sethian myth of creation" the same twice) - are all about the same thing in the end. Here's the theosophian "G...

Re: in the Gnostic tradition the women could make Jesus risen

Geocalix, please don't disturb our discussion. I don't know what are "levels of spirituality", here, but even if I was able to know them, I would be ready to see more "spirituality" in an anti-YHWH text than in a OT text. While your plea is pressuring me to not respond... discus...

Re: in the Gnostic tradition the women could make Jesus risen

Are you guys seriously referencing a NHC book that is literally a self-admitted ecumenical summary with multiple sources, some of which are even referenced by name, as if it were some sort of ... source text? Is that's what's happening here? Because you might want to note that this stuff isn't exact...
