Re: the Gospel of Luke (origins)
He also mentions finding the gospel of John (or maybe Matthew too? hard to tell) in Hebrew too at the same place (presumably)

Re: the Gospel of Luke (origins)
The idea that Acts was written in Hebrew (and may have been original) comes from Epiphanius.I do not think it is very likely that the construction colored blue indicates that Luke found Acts already composed in the Hebrew language and translated it as well.

Re: Nonsynoptic texts and the synoptic problem.
Really? You think that Justin's community and Marcion's community could have independently come up with the same idea given that Irenaeus's reports that Justin hated Marcion? Interesting. Unless of course you buy into the BS that Tatian 'broke' with Justin simply because Irenaeus's contemporaries kn...

Re: Nonsynoptic texts and the synoptic problem.
As you can tell I don't have a filter which leads to me ignore the overwhelming evidence that (a) the canonical texts are a small portion of early gospels and (b) there is no way to determine whether they were more 'correct,' older, more truthful than the dozens of other gospels that apparently exis...

Re: Nonsynoptic texts and the synoptic problem.
The statement in Al Jabbar's 'Jewish Christian source' suggests dozens of gospels in the early period FWIW.

Re: Nonsynoptic texts and the synoptic problem.
It is important to note the degree of harmonization in the East when we get a clear view of the contents of the Diatessaron. For instance the synoptic healing of the paralytic and John 5. The degree of sophistication when the Diatessaron is cited here suggests the Diatessaron is original IMO. Moreov...

Re: Nonsynoptic texts and the synoptic problem.
Right but the name 'Diatessaron' wasn't likely used by the people who venerated it. It was probably just called 'the gospel' and represented something of a super-gospel especially in the East. Didn't mention Secret Mark at all.

Re: Might John and Matthew Have Switched Places in Order?
Interesting. Thanks! But couldn't the sections rather than being 'written' in stages have been patched together from early sources at a later date. A mosaic of source material?

Re: Why you believe in what the demons say about Jesus?
The idea is clearly that the demons (heavenly beings albeit not from the highest realm) saw 'Jesus' and know/remember he was a heavenly being (presumably at creation). They are afraid of him and fear is deemed an involuntary action so 'lying' or 'deception' would be impossible.

Re: Might John and Matthew Have Switched Places in Order?
Jesus is only greater than Moses because he is the god who met Moses in the burning bush and the fire on Sinai (and the other Patriarchs before and after). As Jews and Samaritans have known ever since Moses's name spelled backwards = the God he met (or in the case of the Samaritans = letters scrambl...
