Re: Dead Sea Scrolls Reveal Hidden Calendar

What does your research tell you about the reasons for the changes in the Jewish calendars? There is some mystery concerning the changes to the Jewish calendar. Jewish information websites get this question sometimes, and they acknowledge that changes came about after the Persian period, but tend t...

Re: Dead Sea Scrolls Reveal Hidden Calendar

http://thetorah.com/jewish-calendar-in-jubilees-a-solar-year/ Does God need the help of the rabbis ? Thanks for bringing up the Dead Sea Scrolls calendar. Their 364-day system certainly was sabbatical, but it would have fallen behind the seasons after a few years. Interesting none the less. DSS sch...

Dead Sea Scrolls Reveal Hidden Calendar

My calendar reconstruction is based on a relatively small number of biblical texts, but that does not mean to say that extra-biblical evidence does not exist as well. The Babylonian Talmud explains how the legal system during the period of the Judges of Israel kept track of events in terms of Sabbat...

Strange References to a Lost Calendar

The Old Testament makes several unusual calculations that indicate calendar formula. The first is New Year’s Day , as mentioned in the previous post. The next reference is not as obvious because its function related to religious festivals and the release of debts. I am referring to the ‘Jubilee.’ “C...

Sabbatical Time Measurement

I'd now like to highlight a unique aspect - the shabuwa (sevens) Earliest biblical calendar references go back to the book of Genesis, but as far as an exclusive Hebrew system is concerned, the first mention is found with instructions given to Moses at the time of the Exodus. This was the calendar t...

Ancient Hebrew Calendar

In the following series of posts, I hope to describe an old Hebrew luni-solar calendar which, if understood properly, adds considerable light to our understanding of the scriptures. The modern Jewish calendar, as we now know it, is not the same as the one described in ancient Hebrew literature. It w...

He writes that Jesus began to teach early in 34 and he was born in 12 BC.

When do you think he was crucified?
7th April AD 30

Well, 2 and 3 years perhaps. I don't think that the 1 year theory cuts much mustard, except in the mind of its adherents.

Re: 3-Year Ministry Timeline of Jesus

I never meant this topic to fall into the old mythicist argument that Jesus 'was not an historical person.' Im simply showing how the internal information in the gospels can provide a single (and credible) 3-year timeline. Have a look.

Re: 3-Year Ministry Timeline of Jesus

The question has to first be: how do you know that the Gospels accurately portray Jesus' timeline? Well, a timeline that fits all of the gospel accounts goes some of the way with your question. The seasons provide us with clues to the chronological order of the gospels. The month of Nisan was sprin...
