Re: Of Nazirites & Naṣoraeans.

to Hakeem, So there is no Nazarene in gMark and no prophecy about a Nazorean or a Nazarene in the books of the prophets. For your first sentence, you are absolutely right. gMark has no 'Nazorean', gMatthew has only 'Nazorean', gLuke has one 'Nazorean' and two 'Nazarene'. gJohn has four 'Nazorean' a...

Re: Bar Kokhba revolt coins

Another article focusing on Simon ben Kosiba. The article claims the following writing by Justin (First Apology 31.6) is in reference to Simon ben Kosiba. For in the Jewish war which lately raged, Barchochebas, the leader of the revolt of the Jews, gave orders that Christians alone should be led to ...

Re: RJ Hoffmann on Marcion

There is no Christology involved in this discussion, though it is clear that Marcion’s disregard for Hebrew prophecy is envisaged in Justin’s vigorous defense of Jesus being the fulfilment of both the law and prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures [ 1 Apol. 51-53] . There are no unambiguous quotations f...

Re: dating the gospels?

It is almost certain that if Justin knew of Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Acts of the Apostles and Pauline Epistles he would have identified them by name as his sources. Justin was one of the very few Christian writers who always identified his sources by name. The fact that Ju...

Re: dating the gospels?

Re: did you know???

That in the whole NT including Paul the word is "stauros" meaning stake, and not cross. That the word cross (and crucify and crucifixion) comes from after 400. When the bible was translated from greek into latin, stauros became crux. Crux means by the way also stake. So the translator did...

Re: dating the gospels?

Jesus would be known as a false prophet, a liar and idiot since c 30 CE because he would not have been raised from the dead after being buried for three days in the time of Pilate. That sentiment appear to be supported by Julian the Apostate's writings. It is, I think, expedient to set forth to all...

Re: Who is Luke?

The supposed medical terms in Luke may also indicate an Anti-Docetic interpolation or an apologetic omission.
