Re: What is "a reasohable doubt?" (for Pete and everyone)

what does that have to do with saying that reasonable doubt requires reasons for doubting? No I don't see. who says "stories" are some kind of fictional genre? Those were not fictional, We told stories but they happened, you did a bait and switch. You have gone from discussing reasons for...

Re: What is "a reasohable doubt?" (for Pete and everyone)

History is a science, but it's a social science ... That is essentially a category error: History may involve scientific methods, especially those of hard science, such as investigation of archaeological findings, but it is hardly a social science in the modern, present-tense sense of that opening ...

Re: What is "a reasohable doubt?" (for Pete and everyone)

That means there's a logically valid and/or empirically verifiable reason for doubting. http://www.iep.utm.edu/val-snd/ A deductive argument is said to be valid if and only if it takes a form that makes it impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion nevertheless to be false. Otherwise...

Re: Of mythicists--and things...

I mean taken literally the Exodus story implies that Israel is a race strictly speaking. But at the same time, before the prohibitions of Antoninus Pius (and possibly Hadrian) many and possibly most Jews were proselytes. For these proselytes the story of the Exodus was clearly taken to be an allego...

Re: Of mythicists--and things...

No those ARROGANT white people. How many of us believed the claims of blacks that the police were singling them out and abusing them? Then along came camera phones and at least those of us who aren't racist see things differently. Why is it most us didn't believe "them"? Because we assume...

Re: trinity confusion

the trinity confusion continues. the sender (father) is not the sent (son) and the sent (son) is not the sender (father) the sent has the same what as the sender, but when the sender is sending, his sending is not what the sent is doing . each action of each person doesn't mix like their persons do...

What is "a reasohable doubt?" (for Pete and everyone)

History is a science but it's a social science,* It can't be a "hard science" because we can never observe the experiment we can only try and piece together what happened from clues left in writing. Then of course that means we have to judge the history of the writing. History is probabili...

Re: Of mythicists--and things...

secret Alias said "The mystical exegesis of the Pentateuch has always been at the core of Judaism. I love the way these white people think that their retarded approach to the Bible was original. Yeah in the beginning there were these white Jews who traveled through the desert until Semites corr...

Re: Of mythicists--and things...

That's because it's famous that the 19th century guys were dismissed, so the issue was already decided. So the issue was 'decided' once the arguments of theosophists were overcome? That's down right silly. What about the fictions of the Pentateuch - 600,000 Israelites watching a man made of fire ta...

Re: Cruci f i c t i o n

Gospel of Mark is a cleverly devised myth. Probably what 2 Peter was talking about ("we did not follow cleverly devised myths") when the church began to historicize this fairy tale and pretend that all the gospels was talking about the same thing. (1) how d0 you know not same thing: (2) w...
