Did the author of 'Acts' knew about Paul's epistles, as the Westar Acts Seminar contends?

Re: Any thoughts on Tabor's view of a Jewish original Revelation?

I deducted the Jewih Revelation was written right after 70-71 to the Jewish community in Antioch. It was meant to be against Rome (the city) and provide hope to the Jews (so they don't loose their faith) after the disastrous Jewish War in Judea.

Re: Any thoughts on Tabor's view of a Jewish original Revelation?

Revelation is a lightly Christianized version of a Jewish writing I agree. And Tabor and I are not the only ones: It has been mentioned that 'Revelation' is the result of Christian additions on a thoroughly Jewish text: - "the main [part of the] apocalypse [of John] actually belongs to Jewish ...

Re: Why Wells had read P.-L. Couchoud better than Doherty and Carrier

The evidence is what counts for me, not the opinions of Couchoud, Wells, Loisy, Doherty, Gustaaf Adolf van den Bergh van Eysinga, etc. All the time you want, Ascension of Isaiah was written before the Gospels: it is enough to deserve attention. It ignores entirely Pilate and Herod, despite of having...

Re: Why Wells had read P.-L. Couchoud better than Doherty and Carrier

When Wells wrote: Perhaps Doherty's strongest point is Paul's assertion (1 Cor.2:8) that Jesus was crucified by supernatural forces (the archontes). I take this to mean that they prompted the action of human agents: but I must admit that the text ascribes the deed to the archontes themselves. Read ...

Re: What is the correct date for Jesus last supper/passover?

To John T, There is nothing out of place in Mark. Mark forced the last supper for obvious theological reasons: In all likelihood, "Mark" extended Jesus' stay in Jerusalem for the following reasons: a) Give many opportunities for Jesus to preach where and to whom he never did before: in a c...

Re: What is the correct date for Jesus last supper/passover?

Hi, Along years of studies, I came to believe "Mark" invented the last supper as being the passover meal. Also the date of the crucifixion was most likely 28 AD. Of course, these conclusions are completely explained on my website. Here is my overview of the timing of John the baptiste and ...

Re: Messiah != Son of God

From the ASV: Rom 1:25 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen . 2Co 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 2Co 11:31 The God ...

Re: Messiah != Son of God

to Steven Avery, True, the RSV added up some wording not in the Greek text and translate "fathers" by "patriarchs". According to the ASV, the most correct translation would be: whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ...
