Re: Interesting parts of Holy Qur'an:

The point and hope for this new thread is to post any interesting stuff from or about the Holy Qur'an. This is a challenge here: Moral Commandments from the Qur'an 1. Respect and honor all human beings irrespective of their religion, color, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession/j...

Re: The infidels:

You don't get to mix the two. I get to mix whatever I choose, and it is not for you to dictate otherwise. As I have said a couple times = "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." Einstein is saying to mix it up. So do I follow the affirmation from Einstein? o...

Re: The infidels:

I have very little respect for academic knowledge. That is a personal problem and you may want to find another forum because this one is not an apologetic faith based discussion board. This forum does (as far as I can see) not claim to be just academic and no apologetics, but there still is that po...

Re: Interesting parts of Holy Qur'an:

The point and hope for this new thread is to post any interesting stuff from or about the Holy Qur'an. This is a challenge here: The Qur'an says (paraphrased and my interpretation) that God / Allah puts the righteous (His ministers) like salt, with a little here and there. The Qur'an's point was th...

Re: The infidels:

Academic knowledge is based on evidence and reasoning, not belief with a lack of both. I have very little respect for academic knowledge. Yes it serves its own useful purpose, but it lacks the higher levels of faith and revelation and fun. Still I do know that there is no way to get you or others a...

Re: Did Anyone Think Stuff Was Missing Between Mk 10:34 + 10

Right but that's not the point of the thread. The discussions among the 'veterans' here are quite nuanced. The context is the question of whether Morton Smith could have 'learned' to put the 'addition' between Mark 10:34 and 35 based on what he read or better yet 'is it possible to demonstrate that...

Re: Did Anyone Think Stuff Was Missing Between Mk 10:34 + 10

Just curious. Before Secret Mark were there scholars arguing a section dropped out of Mark - here or elsewhere? I really see nothing missing between 34-35 because it really sound like a very human thing for the sons of Zebedee to say. Like so many real Bozos they did not really listen to what Jesus...

Interesting parts of Holy Qur'an:

The point and hope for this new thread is to post any interesting stuff from or about the Holy Qur'an. Of course it can be either positive or negative so long as it is interesting. I myself have several (or more) favorite messages and other stuff for this topic, so I will return to post in due time,...

Re: An opinion regarding Islam

In a historical sense we only deal with text That would be leaving out the better parts, and I will never go along with that restriction. Sourcing only bland and dull history is not for me. If you believe in divine inspiration, then you have to also believe the god was literally stupid and repeated...

Re: useful information about Islamic manuscripts

In this case "uses" means plagiarized. That is your definition, not mine. The stories are free for anyone to use. ... the Mesopotamian mythology the Israelites plagiarized while in exile. I hear that argument in other places and I see no reason to dismiss the Babylonian influence any more...
