Re: The Biblical God is not infinite
Darkness and water both mean death to ancient laymen. Which is practical non-existence (in platonist's sense, if the last human being died, there would've been no more world) but here in particular it could imply God's canvas is ashes of a defeated universe. In that sense, nothing really exists, as ...

Re: James the Just in the gospel of Thomas.
Have you read the teachings of Silvanus from the NHL? this is very much an orthodox text if this is singing in one voice then they're not singing in harmony with each other. I see your view as not satisfying enquiring minds Abolish every childish time of life, acquire for yourself strength of mind ...

Re: James the Just in the gospel of Thomas.
*raises hand* I'd suggest sticking with the Greek version of Thomas when looking for solid prehistorical info. The Coptic version shares its defiant-to-faith agenda with the rest of NHL, who knows what was added to it or altered. Same goes for the rest of the texts, actually. They purportedly "...

>> Thanks for talking about me so much.
Is this meant to be ironic? It doesn't really read as such since you talk about yourself all the time.
In fact, I'm either making a direct stab at you or you're ignoring it.
>> Psychobabble is garbage,
Take out the trash, then. I dare you.

Re: A gnostic sermon attempt
Because it got bumped into previous page, let me repeat the observation: Authades is not the cause of Sopiha's suffering . Falling for the trap of "highest knowledge" is. It's important to stick to this point because you're exactly like that - following your own ultimate light and going do...

Re: A gnostic sermon attempt
You seem more interested in our myths, while I look at religions for their moral worth. And in the process fail to recognize the four lights guiding you to sanity. Let me put it another way. When you look at the HNL, you see religion . Cautionary tales turn to myths. Warnings turn to dogmas. There ...

Re: Did god really condemn mankind? Is god a just god?
Interesting. I'd figure it's not a case of "bad translation" - the NHL Gospel of Thomas is somewhat edited to support a certain ideological position.

The Gnostic Christian reality. Gnostic Christian Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all. [And after they have reigned they will rest.]" I'm intrigued on...

Re: A gnostic sermon attempt
For instance, by 'nothing', I mean: Gnostic have always named Yahweh a vile demiurge and I follow that moral practice. What is your beef with that? Where they/we wrong? No they haven't. Nowhere in the source texts do they flat out state that Iahwe is a vile demiurge. Nobody ever mentions Iahwe. They...

I'm genuinely curious - are you actually proud of preaching hate?We love to hate as it is our epitome of drama. All we crave is bread and circuses.
The OP question is a loaded one, btw. I'll pass.
