Re: authorship of the Pauline epistles
What evidence is there that we actually have "authentic" or "genuine" epistles of Paul?

Could you extract the argument you want us to understand here, for our sake? So far, it's a mess.

Re: evidence of an earthly human Jesus in the Pauline epistl
Mark Goodacre has a blog post about relative chronology of the Pauline epistles , focusing particularly on the mentions of the collection in Galatians, 1 Cor, 2 Cor, and Romans. Assuming the letters to be genuine, the collection to be historical, and the letter of 1 Corinthians to be written while t...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist
The word for idol's temple in 8:10 is quite different from the word for temple in 9:13 it is not a parallel. I agree that hIERON could be used for a pagan temple. But I would be surprised to see ThUSIASTHRION altar used of a pagan altar. Thanks for this. I hadn't looked into it much at all, or I mi...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist
Thanks for this argument, Andrew. I'd like to reiterate that I do not know whether the Pauline epistles are genuine. So far, I was just arguing against the idea (based on an argument presented here above) that they couldn't be genuine and after 70 AD. It has nothing to do with "wishes," as...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist
Josephus did not say what you want him to say. Jerusalem was inhabited after 70 AD. Besides a Roman legion in a camp, some old men and a few women: You call that inhabited? Not only did Josephus not say what you want him to say, Josephus cannot say what you want him to say, due to the time period i...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist
But Hegesippus is full of problems. I am not supporting Bernard's contentions but of all the early sources this is the one which has the most problems attached to it. Firstly his name. Yes there was an archaic Greek name 'Hegesippus' but it is hard to imagine an Ebionite or Jewish Christian adoptin...

Re: The Dating, Authorship, and Meaning of the Pauline Epist
Peter, I would trust Josephus (who was an eyewitness) much better than Eusebius about the status of Jerusalem after 70. Josephus did not say what you want him to say. Jerusalem was inhabited after 70 AD. Anyway, Eusebius also told that right before the siege of Jerusalem, all members of the church ...
