Well I just presumed that 'Barbary' [sic] was those places that were not Greek and could therefore include Judea. I suppose it boils down to 'somewhere outside Greek cultural precincts', which could include Judea but the addition that it, the philosophy, "afterwards sprang up among the nations ...
