Is it a sin to seek knowledge?
Is it a sin to seek knowledge?
Is it a sin to want to open one’s eyes instead of being blind?
Is it a sin to do as scriptures urge us to do?
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Gen 3:2 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:
Adam and Eve were doing exactly what we are all told by scriptures to do, yet God seemed quite upset.
Why is seeking knowledge and ignoring a vile command to remain in ignorant bliss wrong or a sin?
Are you sinning when you seek knowledge and becoming more like God?
Regards

That is where the conflation of knowledge and sin comes from. Orthodoxy and Judaism have very different views

https://oca.org/questions/teaching/original-sinI would like to know what is the orthodox canon regarding the “original sin.” The following confuse me:
Father Michael Azkoul states that God punished man only once for the original sin by introducing death, and the original sin wasn’t transferred to the next generations.
He says (on the OCF website): “The Church does not accept the idea that the Mother of God was born with the (inherited) guilt of Adam; no one is

That is the more moral view but that is not the view that the church took or they would not have introduced baptism.Clive wrote:https://oca.org/questions/teaching/original-sinI would like to know what is the orthodox canon regarding the “original sin.” The following confuse me:

But is Baptism about sin or rebirth?
And infant baptism, a bit of water and some mumbo jumbo is not exactly adult full baptism. Infant baptism is a welcoming into the community of believers.

It is to wipe away the stain or Original sin.Clive wrote:But is Baptism about sin or rebirth?

That is why Baptism was done soon after birth.
What would a newborn need with rebirth. If he is there to be baptised then his first birth was quite successful and a new one would be redundant.

Re: Is it a sin to seek knowledge?
If you knew what sin was than you would know the search for knowledge is not a sin. But first come to know what sin is. Those in Christ's day thought sin was the violation of the Law. The world believes sin is living an unrighteous life. God Said he would send his Holy Spirit to reprove the world of Sin. meaning he would tech us the true meaning of sin. Learn what is sin than you will know if seeking knowledge is sin or not
