Dido and Europa.

Post by Ethan » Tue Sep 24, 2019 4:49 am

Europa
1. Phoenician princess
2.Sister of Cadmus, daughter of Agenor and Telephassa or Phoenix and Perimede

Zeus saw Europa gathering flowers, transformed himself into a white bull, and carried her away to the island of Crete. He then revealed his true identity and Europa became the first queen of Crete.

This is parallel with Dido, who was carried away from Phoenicia and became the first queen of Carthage. whom mostly mentioned through Roman sources.

Herodotus 1.2.1
Greeks (they cannot say who) landed at Tyre in Phoenicia and carried off the king's daughter Europa.

Herodotus 4.45
But as for Europe, no men have any knowledge whether it is bounded by seas or not, or where it got its name, nor is it clear who gave the name, unless we say that the land took its name from the Tyrian Europa, having been (it would seem) before then nameless like the rest. But it is plain that this woman was of Asiatic birth, and never came to this land which the Greeks now call Europe, but only from Phoenicia to Crete and from Crete to Lycia

Herodotus 7.167
in all the colonists' cities, the greatest of which is in Carchedon itself.

Appian - Punic Wars 1
The Phoenicians settled Carthage, in Africa, fifty years before the capture of Troy. Its founders were either Zorus and Carchedon, or, as the Romans and the Carthaginians themselves think, Dido, a Tyrian woman, whose husband had been slain clandestinely by Pygmalion, the ruler of Tyre. The murder being revealed to her in a dream, she embarked for Africa with her property and a number of men who desired to escape from the tyranny of Pygmalion, and arrived at that part of Africa where Carthage now stands.

Annead 1.335
The rising city, which from far you see,
Is Carthage, and a Tyrian colony.
Phoenician Dido rules the growing state,
Who fled from Tyre, to shun her brother's hate.

According too Herodotus, the Greeks kidnapped Europa and carried her off to Crete, but if she is the brother of Cadmus that it contradict his account who came to Boeotia as a colony.

Herodotus 2.49
Cadmus of Tyre and those who came with Cadmus from Phoenicia to the land now called Boeotia

Name
The name Europa is defined as εὐρύς-ὄψ. In Phoenician language this will be rendered the other way around or ὄψ-εὐρύς resolves to אף־רחב or פן־רחב or רחב as in Rahab (Joshua 6:25). The Biblical phrase 'son of man' is a decoupling of ἄνθρώπος or ἄνδρος ὄψ hence בן־אדם,

Joshua 6:22
Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman ... Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household.

הזונה translated as Harlot, the guise of ἃ γυνά (the Woman), other dialects, ἁ βανά or ἧ γυνή.

אף־רחב (Broad face) ? Africanus. The Phoenician guise of Εὐρώπα, see Appian, Phoenicians settled Carthage, in Africa.

Conflict
The Phoenicians settled Carthage, in Africa, fifty years before the capture of Troy. Its founders were either Zorus and Carchedon, or, as the Romans and the Carthaginians themselves think, Dido, a Tyrian woman

Who founded Carthage?
1. Ζῶρός τε καὶ Καρχηδών (Zorus and Carchedon)
2. Διδὼ γυνὴ Τυρία (Dido, a Tyrian woman).

Josephus 1.116
Badezorus, who lived forty-five years, and reigned six years: he was succeeded by Matgenus his son; he lived thirty-two years, and reigned nine years: Pygmalion succeeded him; he lived fifty-six years, and reigned forty-seven years. Now in the seventh year of his reign, his sister fled away from him, and built the city Carthage in Libya.

You can never trust Christian Roman translations of Josephus or even Josephus himself, a Roman anti-Phoenician propagandist.

Εἰρώμου (Eiromos)
Βαλβάζερος (Balbazeros)
Ἀβδάσταρτος υἱὸς βιώσας (Abdastartos son of Biosas)

Φέλλητος (Pheles)

Belus

- founded a colony on river Euphrates, appointed priests-astrologers called Chaldeans
- wife of Belus has been named as Achiroe, or Side

In Herodotus there is a Ninus son of Belus among the ancestors of the Heraclid dynasty of Lydia, though here Belus is strangely and uniquely made a grandson of Heracles.

δῶρον (δίδωμι): gift, present.
δέρκομαι: look, glance
σπορά : of persons, seed, offspring; διασπορεύς

אשבעל ( ᾁθεος βαλος) * ᾁθεος, Doric for ἠίθεος.
אתהבעל (ἄθε-) : father of Jezebel, King of Sidon. (Ιεζαβελ, איזבל)

What happened with these names, is that בעל, a word for spouse was translated into πόσις then transliterated בשת that is found in the Bible, evident of translation layers. Ishbosheth (איש בשת) is pseudo and the name is איש בעל meaning ἠίθεος βαλος (Ζεύς, ἀβέλιος Ἀπόλλων, ἥλιος, Βῆλος, πόσις), the votary of whatever god Baal represented at that time.

Gen 10:4

Ezekiel 27:7
Blue and purple from the Island of Elishah

This name resembles Elissa, a name for Dido, but in Ezekiel this is איי אלישה (νήσων Ελισαι), a plausible candidate is Ibiza, the Catalan name is Eivissa and Phoenicians call it Ibossim or Iboshim and in Greek, Πιτυοῦσσαι meaning "Pine-Covered Islands", so the name clearly came from πίτυς "Pine" compare with the Latin word, Abiete and Pinus.

Another candidate is Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, referring to a supposedly Phoenician term Alis-Ubo ( 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤑 𐤏𐤁𐤀‎ ) meaning "safe harbour" or related too Ὀδυσσεύς (Odysseus) also written Ulysses, Οὐλιξεύς, Οὐλίξης. Pliny calls the place Ὀλισσιπών (Olissipo) or Ὀλισσιπόνα (Olissipona). The Home of Odysseus was Ithaca (Ιθάκης), its location is a matter of debate, some believe to be south-west Spain, in the delta of the Guadalete or Balearic Islands that are called Βαλεαρεῖς, Γυμνησίαι, Baleares,

Βαλεαρεῖς
- Γυμνησίαι : γυμν νῆσος (Naked Island) or γυμνῆτας (light-armed foot-soldier)

Γυμνῆς 'light armed, foot-soldier'
- גמד (Gammad) 'brave men, warriors, valorous men' (Ezekiel 27:11)
- פסיל/ψιλός 'bare, uncovered, as a military term, of soldiers without heavy armour, light troops

Alis-Ubo (𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤑 𐤏𐤁𐤀‎) "safe harbour""
- עלץ ( rejoice, exult) = ἀγλαίζω "to make bright or splendid", ἀγλα-ίζω (Hiphil) = עליץ
- θάλασσα
- πάραλος γῇ (Πελασγός, Πελασγικός) 'Pelasgian'

ἀγλαός
splendid, shining, bright, epith. of beautiful objects
of men, either beautiful or famous, noble

עב

I have solved the name Dido, the clue is that she as no children or consort.

Dido is homologues with ἠιθέη 'unmarried youth' and synonymous with παρθένος, the title of Athena, the Latin homologue is Vidua
and the name Elissa is homologue with ἧ ἠιθέη. The ἧ is the definite article, אל/ال. Athena is the daughter of Zeus and mother, Metis meaning counsel or just Zeus as Ζεύς μητίετα (counsellor Zeus), it is through this title that the given father of Dido is said to be Mattan. Dido is the Carthaginian Athena.

The Phoenician homologues of μῆτις are עצה, יעט, עטה, יועץ, מועץ, עטא
βουλῇ (Counsel). Dor. βωλά, Aeol. βόλλα Heb. בלע ,בעל.

Beelzebub (Athena)
τεττιγοφόρας means 'wearing a cicada' and the epithet of the Athenians, for in early times, they wore a golden cicada ornament in the hair and thus 2 Kings 1:2 alludes to Athenians, this is further proven with "אלהי עקרון" (childless God). עקר/ἄκουρος means "childless, barren" (Genesis 11:30), for Athena is a virgin, a childless God, further evidence in 2 Kings 17:10 that reveals her name. את־אשימא/τὴν ἀθήνην "Athena" and a cicada or τέττῖξ is a זבוב hence Beelzebub.

Dido is thus equated with Tanit, the chief goddess of Carthage, a heavenly goddess of war, a virginal unmarried goddess. She is given the epithet, pene baal ('face of Baal') and the title rabat, the female form of rab ('chief'). She was known in Latin as Juno Caelestis, She is also equated with Neith. The Greek historian Herodotus (c. 484–425 BC) noted that the Egyptian citizens of Sais in Egypt worshipped Neith and that they identified her with Athena. The Timaeus, a dialogue written by Plato, mirrors that identification with Athena.

Plato, Timaeus 21e (female founder of a city). Sais (Σάις) Neith ( Νηίθ).
In the Delta of Egypt,” said Critias, “where, at its head, the stream of the Nile parts in two, there is a certain district called the Saitic. The chief city in this district is Sais—the home of King Amasis (2nd), the founder of which, they say, is a goddess whose Egyptian name is Neith,2 and in Greek, as they assert, Athena. These people profess to be great lovers of Athens and in a measure akin to our people here.

The 5th century BCE Elephantine papyri make mention of a goddess called Anat-Yahu, Anat is a possible metathesis of Athena or homologue with ἄβατος 'untrodden, of holy places, not to be trodden, met. of the lands beyond the pillars of Hercules' or ἀνδροθέα 'man-goddesses i.e. Athena'

Tarshish (תרשיש) is a name for Athena, θάρσους, θαρσῶ, θρασώ Att. θάρρος , Aeol. θέρσος i.e ἀνδροθέα.

Appian - Punic Wars 1
Phoenicians settled Carthage, in Africa, fifty years before the capture of Troy. Its founders were either Zorus and Carchedon

Isaac Newton wrote a Chronology.

THE CHRONOLOGY OF ANCIENT KINGDOMS AMENDED (Isaac Newton)
1045 Many of the Phœnicians and Syrians fleeing from Zidon and from David, come under the conduct of Cadmus, Cilix, Phœnix, Membliarius, Nycteus, Thasus, Atymnus, and other Captains, into Asia minor, Crete, Greece, and Libya;
1005 Andromeda carried away from Joppa by Perseus.
904 Troy taken. Amenophis was still at Susa; the Greeks feigning that he came from thence to the Trojan war.
883 Dido builds Carthage, and the Phœnicians begin presently after to sail as far as to the Straights Mouth, and beyond. Æneas was still alive, according to Virgil.

Josephus 1.116 - kings that had reigned at Tyre
Josephus lists the Kings of Tyre, among which, ἠίθεος βαλος (Ithobalus) but in 1 Kings 16:31, Ethbaal, is the King of Sidon (צידנים)

Herodotus 8.67 ( Xerxes)
They sat according to the honor which the king had granted each of them, first the king of Sidon, then the king of Tyre

During the Persian Empire, Tyre and Sidon were both independent Kingdoms, they were not part of the Persian Empire or the fifth district of the districts of the Achaemenid Empire and exactly mirrors the Old Testament, the Tribes of Israel were allotted the land of Canaan except Tyre and Sidon.
Image

Ezra 3:7
They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia

2 Chronicles 2:16
Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants: And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need(צרך): and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem

1 Kings 5:9
My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

The Biblical united Kingdom of Israel and Judea' is the fifth district of the districts of the Achaemenid Empire. Ezra 3:7 and 1 Kings 5:9 are describing the same event and probably explains why Tyre and Sidon were exempt from the Empire, Persians where indebted to them and mostly because they built the ships of the Persian Empire. צרך/χρέος 'debt' (2 Chronicles 2:16) כרשיון/κατάχρεος (Ezra 3:7) 'involved in debt'.

This about actual historical Semitic people, the Phoenicians, whom existed.

Dido and Europa are two female characters in Ancient Roman and Greek writings whom are affiliated with the Levant, in comparison to the nobodies of the Bible never mentioned in Ancient Roman and Greek writings.
