Julius Caesar very successfully rewrote some critical history about a very successful European people, and there are things about xianity that use both themes from these Celtic ideas and the Roman Empires, that make me wonder if xianity should be understood as an attempt to cobble together a whole series of competing viewpoints?
The comments about women in another thread here do have very powerful historical precedents, that the Romans with their idea of Pater Familias, hated.
