The context of Christianity

Post by Clive »

I am unclear why xianity expanded. It seems to be a little "oriental cult" that got rocket fuel from Constantine, but why this cult? And had it built enough of an infrastructure to allow rapid growth?

Julius Caesar very successfully rewrote some critical history about a very successful European people, and there are things about xianity that use both themes from these Celtic ideas and the Roman Empires, that make me wonder if xianity should be understood as an attempt to cobble together a whole series of competing viewpoints?

The comments about women in another thread here do have very powerful historical precedents, that the Romans with their idea of Pater Familias, hated.
