Alan Alford argued that the benben stone, the mythical stone on which the sun's rays shined at the very beginning of zeptepi, was in actually a meteor.

He believed that the Egyptian cosmology (specifically that of Heliopolis) was a veiled account of the origins of our solar system, applying the EPH (exploding planet hypothesis) to the accounts of Osiris being born from Nut' his dismemberment, and the contending of Horus and Set.

Even though I don't believe such a thing happened, or that the Egyptians had such knowledge, it is nevertheless an interesting theory. I'd suggest reading The Phoenix Solution, if not only for his assessment on Egyptology, a school as orthodox and unyielding to new ideas as mainstream New Testament studies.
