And it goes without saying (although I am not sure everyone "gets it") the term rabbi is rooted in the concept of being "great" or "greatness" rather than teaching. The idea is also found in terms like eshel and mountain applied to individuals

And that's where we see the dishonesty of scholarship trying to use didaskalos as an equivalent. In a sense yes there's an equivalence but like eshel and the like there is a difference.
