Killing Jesus movie by Bill O'Reilly

Post by John T »

Today, Bill O’Reilly did a promotion of his movie "Killing Jesus" on FOX. He claims that it is not a religious movie but a historical movie. That everything in his movie actually happened.

Really, O’Reilly?

A sneak preview of the movie was played which contain the famous scene; Christ and the Woman Taken in Adultery. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”…John 8:7

Everyone knows that story be they Christian or atheist but did it happen?

The story (periscope) is not found in the Codex Sinaiticus or Vaticanus but appears around 400 A.D. in the Codex Bezae. Clearly the story is an interpolation but where did it come from and did it really happen?

“Papias (circa AD 125) refers to a story of Jesus and a woman "accused of many sins" as being found in the Gospel of the Hebrews, which may well refer to this passage;…”…wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_and_ ... n_adultery

This is just one of many examples that O’Reilly claims to be proven history but the footnotes in his book fall far short of convincing.
Just because the story is in his Catholic Bible does not make it history.

Still, I will watch the movie because it looks like a high quality film unlike; "The Passion of the Christ".

Guess nobody cares if you go after Bill O'Reilly. ;)

On the other hand, putting the Pericope de Adultera in a so-called "historical movie" is a bit funny.

Starring Bill O'Reilly as Jesus.

They would care if O'Reilly went after your buddy Richard Carrier, then all heck would break out. :cheeky:
