Text variations in the 'Way to pray' in Q-lite?

Post by andrewbos »

Assuming that the original author of Marcion/Luke knew Matthew and both authors used Q-lite (shorter version of Q) for writing their gospels, why do Marcion, final Luke and Matthew have differences in the text of Q 11: 2b-4 (Matthew 6: 9-13)?

Marcion and early canonical Luke have "Let your Holy Spirit come", where Matthew and later Luke prefers "Let your Rule come"
Matthew has "Let your Will be done", which Marcion and Luke do not have at all.

All three prayers seem to fit quite well in the "theology" (rather spiritual philosophy) of Q-lite.
Was there a reason why Marcion/early Luke would want to drop "Let your Will be done"?
And if not then why is it missing in Luke and Marcion?

And why the variation of Rule ("Kingdom") of God and Holy Spirit? Was this a text variant in two differing versions of Q-lite or was it a later redaction?
Since both Luke and Matthew destroyed much of the spiritual philosophy (and its coherence) present in the original Q-lite and had moved into quite another type of theology, is it likely that the original authors of Matthew and Luke or just one of them still considered the Rule of God to be synonymous with the Holy Spirit?
