Welcome aboard. :)

I'm trying to recreate some of the same community that we had over at the other place... this starts with trying to pick up some of the threads in progress. 8-)

Hey, that's great, thank you. :)

I've added it to my Clement of Alexandria page.

The end of the Martyrdom of Polycarp reads
These things Caius transcribed from the copy of Irenaeus (who was a disciple of Polycarp), having himself been intimate with Irenaeus. And I Socrates transcribed them at Corinth from the copy of Caius. Grace be with you all.
.................................................................
This amounts to a claim that the text of the Martyrdom goes back to Irenaeus' copy thereof.
However: a/ This is not a direct claim that Irenaeus was involved in composing the martyrdom.
b/ There may be a question mark about the authenticity of this last section. It is not alluded to in Eusebius' version of the martyrdom.
