During the Great Rebellion (66-70 CE) the Galileans and Idumeans were the most adamant fighters against Rome; they fought the Romans to the death when many Judeans were ready to accept peace terms
But is Josephus, the rebel commander, telling the truth about the causes of the war when he was part of the Jerusalem cabal that was surely behind the revolt? The question always comes down to a critical evaluation of whether Josephus is telling the truth when he was accused of being the actual rebel commander. It's not just about reading but reading sources CRITICALLY.

So if Adolf Eichmann explained the Second World War and he said it was the fault of 'Jewish agents' which controlled the world and gypsies and communists we should also accept his claims uncritically? A little knowledge is dangerous. Josephus isn't a reliable source for the causes of the revolt because HE WAS ONE OF THE ARCHITECTS OF THE REVOLT.

Secret Alias wrote:'Aramaic speaking Galilean zealots' being pitted against 'Hellenistic Sadducean traitors to Judaism' (or whatever pieces in this puzzle he decides to leave out in a given post) is naive and stupid. .
You are uneducated.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepphoris

Sepphoris and Jerusalem may be seen to symbolize a cultural divide between those that sought to avoid any contact with the surrounding Roman culture and those who within limits, were prepared to adopt aspects of that culture

Maybe one day you will wake up and understand the actual people of Israel, and understand how the socioeconomic divide of wealth and poverty, fueled rebellion. And the wealthy oppressors dumb azz were Hellenistic.

Something else you may be to uneducated to understand, Stephen and Bernard. It really does take a REAL education to play here boys.

Galileans and the word Zealot is often interchangeable

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galilean

Other meanings

Galileans (or Galilæans) were also the members of a fanatical sect (Zealots), followers of Judas of Galilee, who fiercely resented the taxation of the Romans
But Stephen thinks this is not useful and as he puts it stupid

So if Josephus the rebel commander says that X, Y and Z were the main causes of the War we needn't worry that he might not be telling the truth

Why if it was a "Galilee revolt" did the war drag on for years after the capture of Galilee? Why were the inhabitants of Jerusalem slaughtered and thrown into chains? Why a Jewish tax? It was called the War of the Jews for a reason.

Maybe you see the word "Galilee" somewhere in Bellum Judaicum or De Bello Judaico but I don't

Do you even acknowledge that Josephus was the rebel war commander in Galilee? If it was a "Galilee revolt" how did a Jerusalemite rise to the role of general over a supposed "native revolt"?

I don't think you've even read Josephus. Just bits and pieces and what others say about him

You are on ignore S.H.

But I'm sure you will ramble on about how Josephus may have made up the name zealot, although you don't have the education.

Would not matter, Israel was oppressed by a corrupt temple and Hellenistic overlords who oppressed the Jews in and out of Jerusalem, and made Galilean life miserable.

But I'm sure without checking you have no sources.

CONTEXT, oppressed Jews. Jews fight oppressors, Jews lose.
