I have a better theory on the Trinity... It's a superstition born out a religiously desperate need to reconcile inconsistent and incoherent descriptions of God found in "scriptures" unjustifiably assumed to be inerrant and more than the product of fallible men. Problem solved :-)

Many Christians desperately wanted to remain monotheists, but increasingly also wanted to say that Jesus was God. What then to do with Yahweh of the Old Testament? Rather than cause more division or cognitive dissonance, they simply equivocated. That's all The Trinity is.
