Proofs That Jesus Existed
Re: Argument from Hate
1. Atheists hate Jesus.
2. You can't hate something that doesn't exist.
3. Therefore Jesus exists.

(1) I'm clueless about the good arguments that this composition is a fourth century rhetorical exercise from a Christian scribe.
(2) I see here that this source was written anywhere from 73 AD to as late as the third century.
(3) Let's go with 73 AD.
(4) Wow! He mentions the "wise king" of the Jews that got killed! That's Jesus!
(5) Therefore, Jesus existed.
Peter, what's your take on the Mara bar Serapion letter?
Re: Proofs That Jesus Existed
ARGUMENT FROM REALITY
(1) Mythology developed surrounding A martyred traveling Aramaic Jewish teacher who took over John the Baptist movement. Who was said to be murdered at Passover and placed on a cross.
The mythology found importance in Hellenistic Proselytes who had long wanted to divorce Judaism. Within a short time after his death, people who found importance in this mythology started writing about it and never stopped writing about it for hundreds of years.
(2) No one during this evolution of this concept doubted the man existed, including the movements enemies.
(3) No replacement hypothesis for a martyred man at Passover has ever held an ounce of credibility
(4) Therefore, Jesus existed.

Ever since I heard of it, the position that it is a composition exercise from a fourth century Christian scribe makes the most sense to me.ficino wrote:Peter, what's your take on the Mara bar Serapion letter?

This is an example of what happens when you take the existence of Jesus for granted - you come up with complete bullshit!

ARGUMENT FROM THE TYPE OF PAULINE PROOF-TEXTING THAT STARTED CHRISTIANITY
(1) The most popular phrase in the world right now is "Je suis".
(2) "Je suis" is remarkably like "Jesus".
(3) You can ignore that no one knows what Jesus' given name was.
(4) About 2,000 years later than (no one knows exactly) Jesus' name is being said by everyone.
(5) Therefore, Jesus existed.

Argument from the Multiverse:
(A) an infinite number of parallel universes exist
(B) anything we can imagine to have happened has happened in a different universe
(C). We imagine Jesus existed
(D) he might as well have existed in this one
(E) therefore, Jesus existed
ThatS air tight, right?

ARGUMENT FROM the ALEXAMENOS INSCRIPTION
Alexamenos worshiped a horse (or jackass) headed deity on a cross.
ha'sooce is Hebrew for 'the HORSE'
(ancient Semitic letter heh 'H' became in Greek letter 'E')
therefore, HaSooce > Ea'Sooce > JeSUS musta existed
Else why would Alexamenos have been worshipping something as weird as a horse headed crucified god?
Musta once really been a horse headed JeSUS that got himself crucified, Yes?
