Problems in interpreting Biblical texts?

Post by bskeptic »

What problems exist in interpreting Biblical texts? i.e. above say reading a news article today.

You have things like textual variants, a different language, and produced by people of a different culture.

Other issues? Can anyone point to material on this?

As if these problems aren't bad enough? :)

I guess you could add the question of who wrote it and when, something that (at best) needs to be sussed out of the text. Newspaper articles at least usually carry a specific date.
