Research related to growth of Christianity

I'd really love to help an academic (Patrik Lindenfors) who is stepping outside his usual area of research to study the relationship between placebo effects of religion and the spread of religious beliefs and practices across human societies. I posted the details in General Religious Discussion but am adding this notice here in hopes a few more interested who would like to contribute will see it. It's one thing to assume one of Christianity's appeals was the comfort it gave to populations under stress but another to produce data that potentially supports (or not) such an explanation.
