thanks to God and the father?

Douay-Rheims Bible
All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

is not the father here separate from God and God ? 2 Gods? why have majority of the translations translated this verse differently ?

There seems to be a variant here (Colossians 3.17): either τῷ θεῷ πατρὶ or τῷ θεῷ καὶ πατρὶ. In neither case does it appear necessary to me to regard God and the Father as separate beings. The definite article governs both nouns.
