The Barabbas episode was designed to prove that the true victim was Jesus the Jewish Messiah, not the Marcion's Jesus.

Marcion would agree with Muhammad about the true victim being not the Jewish Messiah:

And for their saying, “We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God.” In fact, they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, except the following of assumptions. Certainly, they did not kill him.

But, contra Muhammad, Marcion would have never adored who escaped the death under the traits of the Jewish Messiah.

This proves that Muhammad was a Judaizer, but differently from the Judaizers who judaized the true victim, Muhammad was a Judaizer who judaized the Jesus who escaped the death. Muhammad is not different in this from the inventors of Barabbas against Marcion. Only, with this difference:
  • The inventors of Barabbas wanted to denigrate the false victim
  • Muhammad wanted to adore the false victim.
Basically, Muhammad judaized Basilides just as the inventors of Barabbas judaized the Marcion's Jesus.

Another strong evidence that the Barabbas episode was invented polemically against Gnostics and Marcionites:

1 Samuel 16:12
So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

The titulus crucis reads:

This is the King of the Jews.

In Hebrew, "This is" reads ZéH Hou', and the curious fact is that the expression occurs only one time in all the Tanak: in 1 Samuel 16:12.

Hence, the opposition is even more strong: the true victim is the davidic Jewish Messiah, he is not the Son of an unknown Father ("Bar-Abbas") of which the only difference to distinguish him from the victim is his being not the davidic Jewish Messiah, not the son of YHWH, hence a mortal enemy of YHWH.
