Nun is another name for the Nahash, the Serpent. Just as eel (in Italian: anguilla) comes from anguis (= serpent). For who invented the OT Joshua son of Nun, the eel is merely a serpent living in the waters.

Now, before the cursing of the Serpent, the Serpent didn't walk: he lived in the waters.

So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,

“Cursed are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life

(Genesis 3:14)

After the cursing, the Serpent will live on the earth. The earth will become the "Promised Land" of the Serpent. Insofar the OT Joshua is son of Nun (=Nahash = Serpent), the his implicit fate will be to conquer the earthly Promised Land: Canaan.

The Serpent was anathemized. The son of the Serpent (=Nun = Nahash), Joshua, will be rehabilitated. But the adorers of the Serpent as supreme god were anathemized as adorers of a mere Jesus Bar-Abbas ("Jesus Son of Father").

The partial rehabilitation of the Serpent was done by euhemerizing the Son of the Serpent: he became the OT Joshua son of Nun. But the Son of Father (=the Serpent) was originally crucified, before the his judaization (=before the invention of the OT Joshua). With the invention of the OT Joshua son of Nun, it is Joshua who crucifies the archons, it is not more him who is crucified by the archons:

22 Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me.” 23 So they brought the five kings out of the cave—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon. 24 When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, “Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So they came forward and placed their feet on their necks.

25 Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.” 26 Then Joshua put the kings to death and exposed their bodies on five poles, and they were left hanging on the poles until evening.

27 At sunset Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the poles and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. At the mouth of the cave they placed large rocks, which are there to this day.

(Joshua 10:22-27)

There is another figure in the OT who went through the sea to earth by Exodus: Moses.

Insofar the Serpent also, as effect of the his cursing by YHWH (a cursing that is also a CRUCIFIXION per Deut.), became an earthly animal and not more an aquatic one - a Nun -, and insofar the Serpent was friend of the man in the oldest Gnostic circles, then the Serpent was considered as more divine than Moses himself.

Is it only a coincidence that,

before Joshua son of Nun,
  • ...the Jews cursed the Nun (= the Fish Serpent) by reducing him to Satan
  • and they praised Joshua by reducing him to a mere Patriarch
...just as,

before Sabaoth son of Yaldabaoth,
  • ...the Judaizers cursed Yaldabaoth by reducing him to Satan
  • and they adored Sabaoth as YHWH and even Jesus himself.
